Get involved

Many businesses have placed sustainability within their business strategy, and the numbers are increasing every year. For some, this is related to ethics and morals, but for many, the commercial arguments are compelling. Consumers are demanding change, employees want to work for responsible businesses and procurement teams are becoming more strict, especially in larger organisations and the public sector.

Amplifi can help. We will go faster if we work together.

Learn

We are all constantly learning in this space, especially as our global understanding is always evolving. Our goal is to bring you a collection of different ways to learn about sustainability, both in person and online. Please check out our News Page which will show you the upcoming events.

  • Our cross-sector webinars, open to all, will be running every 6-8 weeks. These feature an expert to lead on the topic and involve group discussions around specific actions. Read more about the webinars here
  • Our film screenings will be bringing you new ideas and inspiration from across the world. This gives a great opportunity to learn from other businesses and get to know one another. Our latest screening is of the film ‘Responsible’ on the 29th January.
  • Our playbooks are easily accessible guides that are sector specific and provide you with a guide to reducing your carbon emissions. You can download them here.
  • Our Carbon Literacy Training courses are perfect to give you a deeper understanding of the topic. Amplifi has partnered with Grain Sustainability to give members 2 x half day courses, for which you will be awarded a certificate. This is free of charge, but we only have 40 spots available so book on quick by getting in touch with Jen!

We are always looking for ways to share knowledge and training with our members.

If there’s a topic that you would like to explore, just let us know and we’ll make it happen.

Collaborate

We know that people learn a lot from one another, and ideas can build through collaboration. We will be putting on various events and meet-ups across the year to facilitate this. Some sector-specific, and some open to all.

  • Our current sectors are: Food & Hospitality / Media, Creative & tech / Not-for-profit / Real Estate / Public Sector / Retail / Professional Services.
  • We have sector champions for each of these and they act as a conduit and a support for you.
  • We have a variety of subject matter champions, including circular economy, waste management, energy efficiency, and B Corp. If you have something that you want support with, we will find you a subject matter expert.

Our Real Estate Advisory Board is an example of collaboration in action. This cross-business group has come together to help amplifi members navigate the complexities of landlord negotiations. Get in touch with Liz.

Measure

Everything should start from here. If you measure your current impact and carbon emissions, you can set a baseline and identify the areas which would make the maximum difference. There are plenty of online tools out there, but three suggested options from amplifi are:

  • Net Zero Now: This is a highly effective carbon measurement platform that allows you to accurately input your data and then makes suggestions of how you can reduce your emissions, possibly saving the planet as well as your budget. This service can be with or without consultancy, and through amplifi, you will receive a massive 50% discount on the service.
  • Clean Growth UK Carbon calculator: An alternative free calculator, created by the University of Brighton, which measures scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.>
  • Lastly, a tool from Profit Impact - it’s a short set of questions, which give you an instant measurement of key areas of the business. A very simple but effective first step.

Action

Ultimately, we need action, and lots of it. amplifi are here to run programmes, signpost and help our members take action.

Here are some of the projects that are on our radar:

  • Community initiatives: Christmas present giving, Nourish collection, joint litterpicks.
  • Community projects: volunteering matchmaking of local business & charities, circular economy initiative.
  • Government grants: a recent £25,000 fund allowed our members to get access to funding for environmental projects.
  • Waste management support: our local consultant Dave Carter has helped several of our members with waste reduction, saving costs as well as the environment.

We have volunteers, access to funding, and ambition and energy. If you have an idea that you would like to explore that helps your business or the local business community, get in touch

Share

We have partnerships with local media outlets, as well as social platforms, and various newsletters to amplify our members’ stories and what our local community is doing.

We need your stories!

Please let us know all the great things that you are doing and we will promote these. This has the benefit of positive publicity for your business, as well as our local area and by sharing what you are doing, this acts as a case study for other businesses to take inspiration from.

And if the free publicity isn’t enough, our wonderful partners at The Royal Wells Hotel are offering a FREE lunch each month for a business that is making a positive impact. Yum!
