Atlas Project: Sustainability For Everyone

Our Story

We are Atlas Project, founded by two best friends, Stanley and Sasha, who share a passion for making the world a better place! Our friendship began in 2011, after meeting in the same class at school and we have been best mates ever since. Despite taking our individual paths after leaving school and pursuing jobs in completely separate fields, it turned out our career paths would eventually become intertwined after we pitched each other our business ideas, which just so happened to be awfully similar! As two strong advocates for sustainability, the idea of the climate crisis was quite scary, so we decided to band together to form a company, using both of our initial ideas, that would contribute towards making the world a greener, safer and healthier place for everyone. With both of us intending to have our own families in the future, the idea of sitting around and doing nothing wasn’t really an option. As a result, Atlas Project was born. 

So how does Atlas Project work? 

In short, Atlas Project is a sustainability platform that enables both individuals and businesses the opportunity to get involved in some of the most impactful climate projects around the world, for a fraction of the cost of similar organisations. 

For individuals, we offer a vast array of opportunities to get involved in sustainability using your pocket change. We offer a subscription service, where your funds will go towards planting a set amount of trees and removing a set amount of rubbish from our oceans every month.

Additionally, at the end of every month we pool our subscribers additional funds and allocate them to our local impact partners. These are lesser-known, eco-friendly organisations across the globe, who are actually on the ground, working tirelessly to tackle climate change. While most are familiar with renowned entities like WWF or Greenpeace, few have heard of the amazing tree planting efforts from Changamoto Youth Development Organisation, or the massive beach cleans carried out by Ocean Sole.

On the business front, we enable businesses to start their sustainability journey by funding the planting of trees worldwide to offset carbon emissions. For those further along the journey, we provide carbon calculation services, starting with the calculation of current carbon emissions, before recommending a sustainability strategy. What’s great is that this process is beneficial to both the planet and the business, with industry research finding financial benefits for businesses implementing sustainability practices. 

Working with Businesses

We also work with businesses across any industry who are looking to be more sustainable and want to have a positive impact on the environment. We generally recommend around 1,000 trees planted per month but this will vary a lot between sizes and types of businesses. The core thing to remember is we’re extremely flexible and will work effortlessly with you to agree on a successful plan moving forward. 

Atlas Project also helps businesses to diversify their impact effortlessly. We handle all the arduous research on your behalf. If you want to support a Gold Standard accredited renewable energy project, or remove carbon from the atmosphere with over 1,000 years of permanence through enhanced rock weathering, we will make that happen for you. It’s a dynamic journey, allowing you to relax and genuinely comprehend the impact you’re making. 

At Atlas Project, we are always looking for more ways to enhance our offering to our customers. As our enterprise expands, we have plans to introduce additional value such as giveaways from some big name brands, and other exciting ventures currently in development. As an individual, by forgoing just one oat milk latte a month, you could plant trees, remove plastic from the ocean and support some fantastic local environmental initiatives. For the price of one coffee a month we think it’s a no brainer!

The monthly contributions that are shared between our local impact partners also offer fantastic value for money. One month, our local impact partner, Ocean Sole, were able to collect and remove over half a tonne of plastic from beaches along the coast of Kenya using the funds from our subscribers.

As we grow as a community, our impact will also grow. Imagine the colossal impact that 10,000 subscribers could achieve — not just in the fight against climate change but also the countless lives transformed for the better across the globe.
